Chapter 133 133: The Second Meteor
Chapter 133 133: The Second Meteor
At this moment, Tatsumaki still hadn't realized the severity of the situation.
Her focus was locked entirely on holding the meteor with her psychic power, so she didn't clearly hear what Shinji had just said.
Until... The second meteor pierced through the clouds.
Compared to the first one, its size had doubled. Its diameter reached three to four thousand meters!
Although its spectacle could not compare to the "Meteor Stream," the destructive power of this second meteor was no less than the sum of that entire technique.
Still… neither this "Planetary Devastation" nor the earlier "Meteor Stream" represented Shinji's limit.
The true extent of the Six Paths' power was beyond imagination, especially when combined with Kaguya's abilities.
He could likely destroy a moon and send it hurtling toward Earth if he really wanted to. But unless he completely lost it, he wouldn't actually do that.
Anyway, since the first meteor blocked her view, Tatsumaki didn't notice the second one forming overhead.
Moments later.
Boom!!!
The second meteor crashed directly into the first, producing a violent shockwave and deafening roar.
Tatsumaki instantly lost control of the first meteor, forced to watch helplessly as it plummeted toward the ground.
"What is happening?!" Her expression changed drastically. Only then did she realize that an even more terrifying meteor had appeared above.
…
Meanwhile, over at Hero Association HQ, the staff were in an uproar.
"A-class sector, ten kilometers out, a meteor has appeared… no, two meteors!"
"Instruments estimate both meteors have a diameter of at least one kilometer. At this distance, even our A-class sector will be caught in the impact!"
"They'll hit the ground in less than ten seconds!"
"How could meteors suddenly appear like this without the slightest warning?!"
"Good freaking lord, I just want to go home!!"
Everyone was in complete panic.
The last time a meteor threatened Z-city, they had at least managed to detect it in advance and issue an alert, which allowed the S-class heroes to intercept in time.
This time, there had been no warning at all, no chance to prepare for countermeasures.
What made it even stranger was that just moments ago, their instruments had detected a massive burst of energy in that same area. Before they could even assign it a disaster level, two gigantic meteors suddenly appeared, each even larger than the one that once threatened Z-city.
But none of that mattered anymore. If these were ordinary space-borne meteors, then upon impact, they would trigger a catastrophe spanning multiple cities.
In reality, the meteors had been summoned by Shinji, not pulled from outer space.
"Wait! Could it be that these meteors were created by S-class hero Kamui?"
"Huh? That actually makes sense. Didn't Kamui already create over ten kilometer-wide meteors to smash HQ before? If that had been serious and not just a test, we'd all be dead."
"But… why would Kamui create such terrifying meteors here of all places? Is he… playing around again?"
The staff exhaled in partial relief, but it was only half a comfort.
Because they couldn't be certain. Even if the meteors really were Shinji's doing, they had no idea whether it was a joke… or something far more serious.
…
Even at the very last moment, Tatsumaki refused to give up.
Shocked but unyielding, Tatsumaki once again forced herself past her own limits. She raised both hands, pouring every ounce of her psychic power into resisting the unstoppable meteors.
If both of them crashed to the ground, she wasn't sure if her barrier could withstand the impact. But giving up was never an option. There wasn't the slightest trace of fear of death in her expression.
Under her full resistance, the meteors' fall slowed noticeably, yet she still couldn't completely stop them.
Her stamina drained at an alarming rate. Sweat poured down her face as the tremendous effort of holding back the two meteors pushed her to the brink.
Seeing her, Shinji couldn't help but admire her willpower.
He knew how strong Tatsumaki's resolve was. During the great war between the Hero Association and the Monster Association, she had fought until her body gave out, collapsing into unconsciousness, and didn't wake up until after Saitama had defeated Garou.
"It should be enough now…" Shinji murmured softly.
In the blink of an eye, he shifted to Tatsumaki's side. Raising a hand, he nearly brushed against the massive meteor looming just overhead.
Shinra Tensei!
Shinji unleashed the repulsive force of Shinra Tensei to counter the meteor's momentum. This time, he focused the technique into a single direction rather than an all-range blast, so Tatsumaki beside him wasn't affected.
Boom!
The underside of the meteor cracked apart under the repelling force.
Tatsumaki's psychic power had already neutralized at least half its strength, and Shinji dissolved the rest.
Together, the two of them managed to freeze both meteors in midair, stopping them barely two meters above the ground.
The second meteor had embedded itself into the first, yet both now hovered, forced to a halt.
Of course, Shinji had never intended to let Planetary Devastation actually smash into the earth. Even though they weren't real space-borne meteors, objects that large hitting the ground would still release enough energy to devastate all of City A.
He would never allow innocent civilians to be caught in the destruction.
The next instant, his right Rinnegan transformed into an Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. Activating Kamui, he warped both meteors into the dimension within his right eye.
So long as one's power was sufficient, Kamui had no upper limit on the size of what it could absorb.
With Shinji's current eye strength and body, absorbing two meteors was nothing difficult.
"What… is this?!" Tatsumaki was stunned when the meteors vanished without a trace.
"I've already transferred them elsewhere," Shinji explained calmly.
The immense relief caused Tatsumaki's body to slacken completely. Her strength, already nearly spent from battling Shinji earlier, was now fully exhausted.
Unable to keep herself afloat, she dropped to the ground, barely able to stand.
It was like her body had been forced through extreme pressure, only to suddenly return to normal. Her system couldn't adapt right away, and with her body utterly drained, her legs gave out and she collapsed forward.
Shinji quickly caught her. Since she was falling straight toward him, he reached out instinctively to steady her.
For a moment, he wondered if perhaps he had pushed her too far.
"…You really are bold," came Tatsumaki's weak voice, faint but clear. "Touching my chest so directly…"
"Huh?" Shinji's eyes widened in surprise. "Wasn't it your stomach that I touched?"
Perhaps he touched her waist since he felt her ribs, but he shouldn't be touching a woman's chest since you can't feel ribs this clearly… unless, there the said woman is a washboard.
