Chapter 509 Tatiana’s Past
Chapter 509 Tatiana’s Past
Liam stood at the edge of the penthouse terrace and looked down at the city below.
Night had completely taken over.
Thousands of lights stretched endlessly across the skyline, turning the streets into glowing rivers of gold and white. Cars moved far below like tiny insects while distant sirens echoed between skyscrapers.
The day had gone by surprisingly fast.
Between Ann, Lana, Lilith, Vanessa, Kelly, Seo Yeon, Dickson and the rest of the group, he barely had a moment to himself.
No life-threatening situations.
Just laughter.
Normal conversations.
Food.
Family.
It was strange how exhausting peace could be.
Then his phone buzzed.
Liam glanced down.
A message notification.
His eyes narrowed slightly.
Danill.
"Hmmm."
He opened the message quickly before slipping the phone back into his pocket.
Without another word he stepped onto the terrace railing.
The wind immediately hit his face.
For a brief second he simply stood there overlooking the massive drop.
Then he stepped forward.
His body plunged off the building.
The city rushed upward.
Wind screamed past his ears.
Twenty floors.
Thirty.
Forty.
He continued falling.
Then—
BOOM!
Brilliant white wings erupted from his back.
The force of their appearance blasted air in every direction.
His descent instantly changed into forward momentum.
Whoosh!
Liam shot across the city skyline.
The streets below blurred into streaks.
Buildings flashed past.
Cold air whipped against his face as he accelerated higher and higher.
Even after all this time, flying still felt incredible.
There was a freedom to it that nothing else could match.
Within minutes he reached the familiar location of the werewolf pack.
His eyes scanned the mansion below.
Something immediately felt wrong.
No lights.
No guards.
No movement.
Nothing.
Liam landed lightly in front of the building.
His brows furrowed.
The entire property was silent.
Not quiet.
Silent.
The difference mattered.
He walked forward and pushed open the front door.
The hinges creaked softly.
Inside, the mansion was completely empty.
Furniture gone.
Boxes gone.
Equipment gone.
Even decorations had disappeared.
It looked abandoned.
Liam walked deeper into the building.
Room after room.
Hall after hall.
Nothing.
Not a single werewolf remained.
For a second he simply stood there.
Then a memory suddenly surfaced.
Lana lying beside him on the bed.
Her tired voice.
"You have notifications from Irina."
Liam blinked.
"Oh."
He immediately pulled out his phone.
Scrolling through dozens of ignored messages and notifications, he eventually found the one he was looking for.
Irina.
His thumb tapped the message.
A location appeared.
Along with a short explanation.
Their previous base had been compromised.
The vampires now knew where it was.
So they moved.
Liam nodded slowly.
That made sense.
After everything that happened recently, staying in the same location would have been foolish.
Without wasting another second he exited the mansion.
His wings exploded outward again.
Whoosh!
He shot into the night sky.
The new location was farther than expected.
The flight lasted several minutes.
Eventually the city lights began thinning.
Industrial structures appeared.
Large rusted warehouses.
Old train lines.
Abandoned factories.
Then he spotted it.
The massive metal processing facility.
Even from above it looked enormous.
Several chimneys stretched into the sky like giant fingers.
Most were rusted.
Some had partially collapsed.
The entire place looked forgotten by time.
Liam landed near one of the larger buildings and folded his wings.
The first thing he noticed was security.
Hidden cameras.
Lookouts.
Observation points.
Irina had clearly learned from recent events.
He approached the main entrance.
Before he could knock, a small camera near the door rotated toward him.
A few seconds passed.
Then a metallic click sounded.
The heavy door opened.
Liam stepped inside.
The factory interior was surprisingly active.
Werewolves talked in small groups.
Equipment was being carried from one section to another.
Temporary sleeping areas had been built near the walls.
The place looked rough compared to the mansion, but it was secure.
Several familiar faces noticed him.
A few waved.
Others nodded respectfully.
Liam returned the greetings casually as he walked deeper inside.
Then—
PHEW!
A sharp whistle echoed through the factory.
Liam stopped.
His eyes lifted upward.
Several stories above him sat Danill.
The young werewolf was perched on a massive iron casting beam high near the ceiling.
A laptop rested on his lap.
A half-finished bag of chips sat beside him.
He looked completely relaxed.
Like a man spending a quiet evening in his bedroom instead of balancing fifty feet above solid concrete.
Liam stared for a moment.
"Seriously?"
Danill grinned and waved.
The laptop disappeared into his backpack.
He grabbed the remaining chips and shoved them inside as well.
Then he stood.
Several nearby werewolves immediately looked up.
Even they seemed concerned.
The drop was ridiculous.
Danill ignored all of them.
He simply stepped off the beam.
Several people flinched.
Whoosh!
His body dropped rapidly.
The distance was enough to seriously injure a normal human.
Danill didn’t care.
Boom.
He landed effortlessly.
The concrete cracked slightly beneath his boots.
He straightened up like nothing happened.
Liam shook his head.
"One day you’re going to kill yourself doing dramatic entrances."
Danill smirked.
"Ouch."
They began walking through the factory together.
Danill shoved his hands into his pockets.
Liam noticed the dark circles under his eyes.
The guy looked exhausted.
"Been sleeping at all?" Liam asked.
Danill snorted.
"Not really."
"Why?"
Danill glanced toward the enormous factory floor.
"There are over a hundred werewolves trying to adapt to a new base. Half the electrical systems don’t work. The plumbing is ancient. Three different groups nearly got into a fight over sleeping arrangements yesterday."
Liam laughed.
Danill pointed accusingly.
"Don’t laugh."
"I’m laughing."
"You should be helping."
"I am helping."
"By flying around the city with your girlfriends?"
"Exactly."
Danill stared at him.
Liam stared back.
After several seconds both men burst out laughing.
For the first time since arriving, Danill looked genuinely relaxed.
Then his expression slowly became serious again.
"There was actually a reason I messaged you."
Liam’s smile faded slightly.
He had expected that.
Nobody called him here this late at night without a reason.
"What happened?"
Danill stopped walking.
His eyes narrowed.
"I found something."
Liam immediately became interested.
"What kind of something?"
Danill slowly pulled his laptop from his backpack.
The playful mood disappeared completely.
"This has to do with Tatiana."
Liam’s expression hardened instantly.
And just like that, all traces of relaxation vanished.
Something told him this conversation was about to become very important.
