Chapter 26 Cloud of Daggers
Chapter 26 Cloud of Daggers
Lush green woodland.
Seeing the demons of Barto Hell appear and the conspiracy completely exposed, Archdruid Mok simply stopped pretending.
The last trace of struggle and hypocrisy vanished from that half-human face, replaced by ruthlessness and ferocity.
"Those cowardly creatures do not deserve the protection of Savannah; the spirit of nature will be destroyed by them sooner or later!"
Mok's voice was like a viper's hiss, every word imbued with twisted hatred.
"Only through conquest and power can the laws of nature be truly upheld!"
Avel glanced at the hellish demon beside him and questioned it sharply.
"So you chose to collude with the devil to harm your own companions?"
Archdruid Mok was clearly amused by her childish question.
"Companions?" Mok scoffed, his laughter filled with disdain and mockery. "Those fools who refuse to embrace the darkness dare to call themselves my companions?"
He gazed at the Thorn Demon in the air, which was leisurely picking its teeth with the spikes on its tail.
"It's a deal. They'll clear the way for me to become the sole leader of Greenwood by signing some trivial contract."
"It's fair, isn't it?"
An insignificant contract?
Richard shook his head inwardly; the Shadow Druid was clearly still basking in his victory.
Little did he know that the law of the Hell Contract is never an equal exchange; all help has a price tag attached, and his soul had already been taken by the devil.
"Alright, you blasphemers who desecrate nature, let these hellish demons send you on your way!"
Grand Druid Mok waved.
The demons behind them began to move.
Unlike the lesser demons that probed the camp last time.
These Thorn Demons, wielding flaming steel forks and flapping their withered, branch-like wings, are true creations of hell. They are fierce and fearless, possess multiple magical resistances, and are extremely difficult to deal with.
Not to mention the chain demon behind them.
"Your Excellency Richard, please be careful."
"These Thorn Demons can fire spikes from their tails, which are not only as powerful as a light crossbow but also deal fire damage!"
On their journey to pursue Mizora, Avel's adventure party had fought against the Thorn Demons and knew how powerful these demons were.
rustling—
Several Thorn Demons flapped their wings and flew over the two people's heads, their whip-like tails swishing rapidly in unison, like well-trained crossbowmen.
One after another, steel needle-like stingers pierced the air and attacked.
The tip of each tail spike was burning with scorching hellfire, leaving a blinding trail in the air!
"Shield!"
Avel stepped forward, blocking Richard's path, and silently chanted an incantation before slamming his staff heavily on the ground.
First-circle spell: Shield.
A semi-transparent force field shield instantly unfolded in front of the two of them.
The shield was hemispherical, about ten feet in diameter, with dark purple arcane runes flowing across its surface, completely enveloping Richard and Avel.
Ding ding ding,
The tail spikes, like dense silver needles, struck the shield repeatedly, creating ripples.
"Sacred Flame!"
A blazing white holy flame erupted from Richard's palm.
Taking advantage of the moment when the Thorn Demon launched its tail spikes, Richard unleashed the Trick of Holy Fire, shooting it towards the Thorn Demon in the air.
The Holy Fire spell has radiant damage and is one of the few ranged divine spells that Richard can currently use to effectively damage demons.
However, the Thorn Demon is agile and extremely nimble, and even when startled, it can easily dodge attacks.
That's incredibly agile.
Richard's brows furrowed tightly.
He had aimed at the opponent's flight path with that attack, but it was still dodged.
Thorn Demon had the advantage in the air, and although his Holy Iron Fist could cause damage, he simply didn't have a chance to attack.
The range of guiding the divine power of dawn is very wide, but there is only one chance to cast the spell. You must seize the opportunity and coordinate with Aiver to cast the spell at the same time for a fatal blow!
"Aivel, prepare the cloud of daggers!"
Richard's voice came clearly through the cacophony of the devil's roar and the stinger piercing the air.
Although Avel was unaware of Richard's intentions, the previous battles had instilled in her an almost instinctive trust in Richard's judgment.
"Cloud of Daggers!"
Avel raised his staff high, and arcane energy gathered wildly at the top of the staff.
Second Ring Spell: Cloud of Daggers!
Under Richard's instructions, Avir summoned a rapidly spinning vortex of daggers beneath the Thorn Demon. The sharp blades, like a meat grinder, inflicted slashing damage on any enemy that entered the area.
But the problem lies in the altitude.
The cloud of daggers cast by Avel could only cover an area eight feet above the ground, and could not reach the Thorn Demon in the air.
The Thorn Demons were clearly aware of this as well, letting out shrill laughs and speaking in a shriveled Common tongue.
"Foolish! Thinking such a petty trick could hurt us."
"Keep firing! Tear them apart!"
The Thorn Demons had completed their second reload, and their fiery tails rose again, aiming at the two people below who were protected by a shield spell.
Just then.
Richard stepped forward, raised one palm, and a faint golden light shone from it.
Divine power surged forth like an awakened volcano.
Guiding Divine Power - Dawn of Light!
Centered on Richard, a pure white beam of light, like liquid sunlight, shot into the sky!
The holy, dazzling light instantly dispelled all magical darkness.
The radiant damage surged like a tidal wave, instantly engulfing the Thorn Demons in the air. Divine power continuously purified the blasphemous aura emanating from them, releasing thick black smoke.
"Hiss! Aaaaaah—!"
The five Thorn Demons simultaneously let out a shrill, distorted scream!
Their pure black eyes burst open like balloons punctured by needles, and thick, sulfur-smelling black pus melted and dripped from their wings.
The Thorn Demons plummeted straight down from a height of fifteen feet like puppets with broken strings!
What awaited them below was a cloud of daggers released by Aiver in advance!
The sickening sound of flesh being slicing apart, mixed with the sound of bones being crushed, filled the air.
The sharp blades, like a merciless meat grinder, crushed the thorn demons that fell into it, turning them into a pool of thick water that smelled of sulfur!
"It's a success!"
Avel exclaimed in surprise, before he could even celebrate.
Suddenly, the chain demon in the distance moved, raised its right arm, which was wrapped in rusted iron chains, and swung it forcefully.
The hellish chains on his arms, like a giant steel python awakened, lashed out at Avel through the air!
"Danger!"
Richard reacted almost the instant the chains of hell were fired.
It launched itself at an even faster speed, landing right in front of Avel.
Raise your right fist.
On the fist, pale golden holy light gathered wildly, radiating the brilliance of a sacred weapon, and blasted towards the chains of hell.
But the power of the Chain Demon far exceeded his imagination.
The Hell Chains were repelled by the radiant energy from the fist, swirling in the air to dissipate the force, and then wrapped around Richard's arm as if they were alive.
The moment the Hellfire's chain links touched the fine iron chainmail, they emitted a sizzling corrosion sound, and dark red rust quickly appeared on the surface of the armor plates!
Even more terrifying, the sharp barb at the end of the chain, like the fangs of a viper, pierced Richard's shoulder!
