Chapter 88 Explosion
Rosen's Traditional Herbal Shop, 18 Vlad Street, East Tingen.
The wealthy individuals connected to Mrs. Sharon are a minority; the truly powerful and influential figures are not within the scope of Klein's investigation.
So after returning to Blackthorn Security Company at noon to hand over the mission, Klein and Leonard's team members, who had been extremely busy these past two days, were given half a day off to rest.
Under pressure from the mastermind behind the scenes, Klein didn't even think about resting. Instead, he went to Backlund Bank, which had operations in Backlund and Tingen, and opened a anonymous account. He set the password in the ancient Hermes script, using the name "Fool," to ensure the account's security to the greatest extent possible.
He then went to the eastern district of Tingen to find the extraordinary person who was suspected to be the apothecary.
After careful consideration, Klein decided to let "The Pharmacist" leave Tingen. Although the Pharmacist was very useful, able to treat diseases and injuries that ordinary doctors could not treat, and had little combat power, making him a relatively safe wild extraordinary being, the existence of a mastermind behind the scenes could turn him into an out-of-control being at any time, causing serious harm. Therefore, Klein had no choice but to ask him to leave.
When Klein entered the herbal shop, the bored apothecary's eyes narrowed upon seeing Klein, but then he said with a lewd smile:
"Is there anything I can do for you, sir? I'm skilled in treating many ailments, especially marital discord. Of course, as for the price, you know what I mean?"
Klein was also taken aback. This was the first time in his two lifetimes that someone had directly tried to sell him a "sexual enhancement drug," which made him feel quite embarrassed, and he was momentarily speechless.
But Klein wasn't the clueless newbie he used to be. He quickly turned around, reorganized his thoughts, and asked:
"Am I the first customer to come to our store because of your reputation?"
This is what Evan said in his reply to him, mentioning this "pharmacist." He said that as long as he said these words and the "pharmacist" responded, he could easily persuade him to leave Tingen.
As expected, upon hearing Klein's question, Pharmacist Rosen fell silent, then cautiously replied:
"The 17th one."
"Your connection with Tingen is over. Backlund is your destiny. Leave here, for something big is about to happen."
After saying that, Klein didn't wait for Rosen's reaction. He adjusted his top hat and left the herbalist shop.
This charlatan's performance indeed intimidated Rosen, making him want to stop Klein to get to the bottom of things, yet also not wanting to get involved in anything bad.
Not long after Klein left, Rosen finally decided to follow his heart and leave Tingen for Backlund. Both Evan's previous words and Klein's mysterious nature made it impossible for him to stay in Tingen any longer.
So he quickly handed over the herbal medicine shop to his apprentice, and with only a few belongings, hurriedly ran to the station as if fleeing.
Klein, hiding in the shadows, watched Rosen leave with his suitcase and also breathed a sigh of relief. If Rosen hadn't listened to his advice...
He could only use his status as a night watchman to drive them away.
That evening, as Klein was heading home, he passed through the Golden Phoenix district and found it in chaos. With a bad feeling, Klein quickly ran towards the source of the commotion and discovered that the library donated by Sir Deville had been reduced to ruins.
Even Klein could tell that it had been destroyed by high-powered explosives; there were injured people and severed limbs everywhere.
The cries of the injured filled the air. Police officers were setting up a cordon and struggling to maintain order. A helpless little girl, covered in dust, cried out while clutching her doll, but no family members were around.
After showing his insignia as a trainee inspector, Klein entered the epicenter of the explosion and found two of his colleagues there: one was Mr. Schumer, a spy from the Sanctuary, and the other was Cohenley, who had become an extraordinary being just a few days before Klein.
"What happened here, Mr. Schumer?"
Mr. Schumer, who always wore a smile, maintained a neat appearance, and treated people with courtesy, was also covered in dust, his top hat nowhere to be seen. Seeing that it was Klein who was speaking to him, he dragged a dead body from the rubble, placed it aside, and then explained:
"There was an explosion here before. It wasn't a gas pipe explosion; someone planted explosives!"
The night watch team, except for the necessary personnel who stayed behind, all came to help with the disaster relief. However, just fifteen minutes ago, news came from the police station that someone had taken advantage of the chaos at the police station to break in and steal a body. The intruder was none other than the previously wanted criminal, Riel Bieber.
Just then, the Sanctuary personnel arrived with the sealed artifact. The captain and Leonard, along with the Punisher team, used the artifact to track down Riel Bieber.
We're desperately short-staffed right now, so please come with us to handle the situation here!
Klein was dumbfounded. He hadn't expected that such a major event would happen in the Golden Phoenix District just because he had gone to the East District.
He knew that Riel Bieber, who had been lingering in Tingen, was a potential threat, but he hadn't expected him to cause such a huge incident.
Looking at the people around him wailing in misery, the veins on Klein's head bulged.
Just then, Mr. Schumer and Klein heard gasps of surprise from behind them. Looking in the direction of the sound, they discovered a monster emerging from the ruins, its face covered in fleshy growths that appeared to be filled with white teeth.
The monster was covered in blast wounds, but the blood flowing from it was not bright red; instead, it was a thick, black liquid, making it look terrifying and disgusting.
After bursting out of the ruins, the monster did not hesitate at all. It grabbed the nearest rescuer, tore him in half in mid-air, and stuffed him into its own body. The monster's body immediately took in fresh flesh and blood.
Seeing this, many police officers maintaining order were so frightened that their legs went weak and they fell down, not to mention the onlookers.
Klein and Mr. Schumer, however, drew their pistols in perfect unison, spread out, and fired repeatedly.
The monster had been severely injured in the explosion and was immobilized. Under the command of Mr. Schumer, an experienced occultist, they quickly killed it.
After killing the monster, they didn't stop for a moment and quickly set up a ritual to communicate with the monster.
The monster's appearance here was too coincidental, making Mr. Schumer and Klein sense a conspiracy.
Unlike the previous Hynarson Vancent, this monster shows no obvious signs of being corrupted by the evil god, making it highly likely that it has successfully communicated with the spirits.
Soon after the ceremony was completed, Mr. Schumer, through dream communication, inquired:
"What's your name?"
"Sirius Arepius".
