Chapter 386: Space Exchange Technique
Chapter 386: Space Exchange Technique
"Hello, I’d like to purchase some Space Magic."
Li Wei said.
The white-bearded old man looked at Li Wei and said, "If you want to learn Space Magic, why don’t you just go and learn it yourself? Why come to me?"
"Wait... you’re not a Mage from the Space Tower?"
The white-bearded old man finally realized this after seeing the Mage Robe Li Wei was wearing.
Li Wei nodded. "Yes, I’m a Mage from the Elemental Tower."
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Why would an Elemental Mage like you want to learn Space Magic?" the white-bearded old man said.
He waved his hand dismissively. "Don’t waste your money. Not just anyone can learn Space Magic."
Li Wei said, "I won’t know if I can learn it until I try."
Hearing this, the old man glanced at him and said, "Fine. If you want to throw your money away, be my guest. What Space Magic are you looking for?"
Li Wei replied, "Space Magic that can open a Secret Realm Passage."
The white-bearded old man stared at him, eyes wide. "Are you kidding me?"
"Do you have any idea what Level of Magic you’re talking about?"
Li Wei shook his head. "I don’t."
"A Tier Four Spell, the Space Ripping Skill!" the white-bearded old man said, calming down.
"Have you ever learned any Space Magic before?" he asked.
Li Wei shook his head. "No."
"Not even a Tier Zero Space Magic?" the old man asked.
Li Wei shook his head again. "No."
"Then forget about it. You should just go home. With zero experience, trying to learn the Space Ripping Skill is simply impossible," the white-bearded old man said.
"I suggest you just hire a Space Mage to help you. You won’t be able to learn it."
Li Wei seriously considered the old man’s advice.
’That’s not a bad idea.’
"But I still want to give it a try and see if I can learn it..." Li Wei said sincerely.
The white-bearded old man huffed, his beard bristling and eyes wide with anger. "Why are you so stubborn!"
The old man was clearly a man of passion.
He shook his head and sighed. "Fine. It’s useless no matter what I say. People like you won’t give up until you hit a wall."
The white-bearded old man extended his right hand, and it vanished into thin air.
A look of amazement appeared on Li Wei’s face.
He fumbled around in mid-air for a moment before pulling out a silver Magic Book.
The old man handed the Magic Book to Li Wei. "This is the Space Exchange Technique, a Tier One Space Magic I created myself. If you want to learn Space Magic, try this one first."
"If you can’t even learn this technique, then don’t waste your money buying the Space Ripping Skill."
Li Wei was a little surprised. He took the Magic Book and asked, "This isn’t free, is it?"
The old man said, "What are you thinking? I’m just letting you take a look to crush your hopes. You don’t actually think you can learn a Space Magic in such a short time, do you?"
Li Wei smiled. ’I actually can.’
He didn’t argue with the old man, instead opening the Magic Book directly.
He began to study the Magic Model within.
His Spiritual Power perceived the Magic Model for the Space Exchange Technique inside the Magic Book.
Li Wei could clearly sense that the Space Magic Model was far more complex than an Elemental Magic Model.
A Space Magic Model was dynamic and constantly changing.
One had to set spatial coordinates within the Magic Model to cast it.
This was vastly more complex than an Elemental Magic Model.
Most importantly, the spatial coordinates were also constantly changing.
Spatial coordinates are a relative concept.
If Li Wei were to use himself as the origin point, he would have to establish a coordinate system centered on himself that was compatible with Space Magic.
Besides establishing a coordinate system with oneself as the origin,
there was also the conventional, fixed universal spatial coordinate system agreed upon by Space Mages.
It was mainly used for constructing Inter-City Teleportation Arrays and Plane Teleportation Arrays.
[Space Exchange Technique (Tier One Entry Level)] 0/1000
Li Wei had learned it, but he didn’t know how to use it yet.
He hadn’t studied the relevant knowledge for a Space Mage and had no clear concept of spatial coordinates.
Therefore, he was unable to use the Space Magic.
Holding the Magic Book, Li Wei’s consciousness entered the Dream World.
The white-bearded old man saw Li Wei staring at the Magic Book, lost in thought, seemingly in deep contemplation.
He didn’t disturb Li Wei and turned to go about his own business.
Li Wei appeared to be staring at the Magic Book, but in reality, his mind had already entered the Dream World.
He was in a state between dreaming and wakefulness.
In the Dream World, he used the eight-fold time acceleration to continuously experiment with and practice the Space Exchange Technique.
Through repeated failures and summing up his experiences,
Li Wei quickly figured out how to use spatial coordinates.
The white-bearded old man, Claude, came out of his room and was surprised to see Li Wei still standing in the same spot.
"Why haven’t you left yet?"
Seeing that Li Wei had already put down the Magic Book, Claude asked with some confusion.
’Putting down the Magic Book means he’s given up on learning Space Magic.’
Claude had never imagined that someone could go from having no contact with Space Magic to learning a Tier One Space Magic in just one hour.
Even a Mage Apprentice from the Space Tower had to undergo a long period of studying related knowledge before they could learn a single Space Magic.
The most important among these was the Space Perception Ability.
A sufficiently talented Space Mage possessed an extremely strong Space Perception Ability.
For them, there was no need to use a coordinate system for Casting.
Casting Space Magic was more like an instinct, requiring no external aids.
An ordinary Space Mage casting the Space Teleportation Technique needed to precisely calculate the spatial coordinate system.
A careless mistake could even lead to teleporting into the ground.
At best, they would be injured; at worst, they would lose their life.
A talented Space Mage, however, could teleport to a precise location with just a thought, without the slightest error.
Learning Space Magic was heavily dependent on talent.
Claude couldn’t see any talent for Space Magic in Li Wei.
Hearing his voice, Li Wei looked up at him and said, "I’ve learned the Space Exchange Technique."
Claude’s face showed his surprise at these words.
"What did you say?"
Seeing his disbelief, Li Wei casually picked up a nearby book.
He cast the Space Exchange Technique.
WHOOSH.
The book in his hand turned into a vase.
The vase on a nearby table turned into a book.
The function of the Space Exchange Technique was to swap two objects of roughly equal mass and volume.
Only by reaching a high level of Cultivation could one swap a large object for a small one, or vice versa.
But it could only swap inanimate objects.
It couldn’t swap living things.
Claude stared at the vase in Li Wei’s hand, his face a mask of shock.
He had felt the spatial fluctuations.
Li Wei had actually learned the Space Exchange Technique.
This was a minor spell he himself had created.
As a Mage from the Elemental Tower, it was impossible for Li Wei to have encountered it before.
In other words, in just one short hour, Li Wei had learned a Tier One Space Magic.
The look in Claude’s eyes changed.
He stared at Li Wei, carefully sensing his talent.
The more he sensed, the more confused he became.
Li Wei didn’t have the slightest shred of spatial talent.
Someone with spatial talent could naturally merge with space.
It was similar to the relationship between a fish and water.
Yet, there wasn’t a single trace of this spatial integration around Li Wei.
