Conflux System: I Can Merge Anything

Chapter 133 133: The Underground Classroom

Chapter 133 133: The Underground Classroom

No matter how low you go, there's always an unexplored basement.

Xavier opened a door on the floor of his house and upon asking, he revealed it to be…

"The Downtown."

Zane's eyes lit up.

"You mean to say there is an entire town below?"

"What? No. It's just a figure of speech."

"So it's a basement."

"Yes. The uncool term."

"Why though?"

Xavier pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Were you born yesterday?"

"No?"

"My ancestors built it for safety so that we can stay inside it during the Full Merge."

"... Right."

Zane nodded slowly and Xavier frowned.

"Don't tell me you don't know about the Full Merge?"

Zane scratched the back of his head.

"Haha."

"Don't laugh."

"Alright, yes. I don't know. I was too busy searching for food."

"Emotional blackmail everytime."

Xavier shook his head.

Zane opened his mouth but Xavier raised his hand.

"Call everyone inside now."

Zane wanted to argue but he didn't have that much time.

So he agreed.

But he did have a question.

"You could have opened this gate anytime. Why the plastic?"

"Because my house has no door and a wall. The neighbours are already keeping an eye here. I don't want them to know we have a basement."

"Fair. So you always keep plastic in your bathroom for such occasions?"

"No. The plastic is used when the house undergoes renovations. Now quit being a detective. You only have three days."

"Right."

Zane clapped his hands.

"Well, you heard the man. Get inside!"

He ordered the people that were inside the house to enter the basement.

They wasted no time and went inside one by one.

They were eager to see inside anyway.

It took five minutes for the house to become empty and now only the people who were outside were left.

Zane moved towards the broken wall and lifted the plastic to go outside from there.

He made eye contact with Crika. She was standing nearest to Zane. She was a gutterborn who washed utensils in the Citadel.

She bowed instantly seeing Zane and Zane waved his hand in dismissal.

"Call everyone inside. Fast. Come inside!"

"I always come inside." Jammy said.

Everyone laughed and Zane wrinkled his nose.

"Don't say such things when Milo is around."

"My bad." Jammy apologized nonchalantly and Zane entered inside the house again.

In a few seconds, everyone came inside the house and Zane told all of them to enter the basement.

All of them obliged and one by one, entered the downtown.

The area started to become less crowded.

Tesla and Milo arrived as well and instead of entering inside, Milo went to Zane.

Tesla didn't mind and joined the people below.

After five more minutes, everyone was inside.

Only Zane, Xavier and Milo were left.

"Well, after you." Xavier said.

Zane nodded.

He looked at Milo.

"Don't be scared inside. It's just another room, alright?"

"I am not scared. In fact, it looks bigger than the hole I used to hide in."

Xavier raised his brows. "She used to hide in a hole?"

"Normal day."

Zane didn't explain further and with Milo in his arms, he stepped on the stair leading downwards.

There was darkness around the steps so Zane slowly put his foot on each step.

Time was of the essence but Milo shouldn't be hurt.

"Move it!" Xavier shouted from outside.

Zane remained normal.

Xavier stepped on the stairs as well and then closed the gate above him.

Now darkness entirely engulfed Zane and he became even slower.

Xavier shouted all the way for Zane to increase his speed but whenever it comes to Milo, Zane turns deaf.

Xavier was stuck behind slow Zane and he couldn't even push the man.

If Zane was alone, he would have done that but not with Milo.

If Milo got hurt, Xavier already saw what lengths Zane would go for revenge.

But then again, if Zane was alone he wouldn't be walking slow anyway.

In the end, he gave up.

He followed Zane like the good friend he was and felt grateful for his ancestors that they didn't make a lot of stairs to reach below.

He also didn't remove the plastic from his house as it wasn't needed.

Everyone would think the house was being repaired as all of them already saw the fallen wall.

Also, not many people visited his house anyway.

After one minute of slow torture, Zane finally saw light.

Zane's steps went fast and as he stepped a little more forward, his eyes widened.

Xavier laughed seeing his reaction and came in front of him.

"How do you like this?"

He put Milo down and touched the gray walls of the basement.

They were cold and the heat from outside didn't bother him here.

It felt like he arrived in winter.

The walls had fire torches hanging on them and more than that, the basement was big enough to accommodate everyone who was with Zane while still leaving enough space to walk around.

The corners of the basement had brown boxes and they were sealed.

Charcoal and logs of wood were also present.

Zane didn't ask about them.

There was one table kept in the middle and it was a simple table with nothing on it.

There were no chairs but most of the people faced no problem with it. They simply sat on the ground.

All of them were gutterborns and if anything, sitting on the ground was their natural habitat.

Hena and Draxus might not like sitting on the hard floor though.

Nevertheless, Zane stopped worrying about them.

It was finally time.

He clapped his hands and got everyone's attention.

Silence happened in the basement and Zane walked towards the table.

He dragged it towards a wall and stood behind it.

Like a teacher standing in front of a blackboard and facing the students.

Zane then picked up a charcoal from the ground and asked Xavier with his eyes.

Xavier nodded and Zane moved the charcoal on the wall behind him.

In big letters, he wrote two words and placed a question mark beside them.

All eyes focused on them and in unison, they all read:

"The Relic?"
