Chapter 331 - 263: Surprise
This gun.
At first glance, it looked sharp. At second glance, it looked cool. By the third, it was both sharp and cool.
How could a gun be this good-looking?
Feng Shan picked up the custom gun. The first thing he noticed was the grip. Its anti-slip texture was incredible; it felt like the pistol was welded to his hand.
The barrel was four centimeters longer than a Glock 17’s, likely to increase muzzle velocity.
Racking the slide felt incredibly light, perhaps due to the different frame material.
He dry-fired it. The trigger pull was much lighter than standard, about half that of a stock Glock.
The more Feng Shan handled it, the less impressive the collector’s edition Beretta M92 he’d just seen seemed.
"What kind of company is TTI? Do they have other guns?"
Jeff cleared his throat and began his explanation.
"TTI Taran Tactical Innovations Company is a company that specializes in developing custom competition firearms. This Glock 17L Combat Master is TTI’s newest high-end competition firearm."
"However, TTI is very niche. They mainly target high-end competition shooters, and the firearms they build are primarily for tactical shooting training and practical shooting competitions. Like many custom gun companies, you have to buy a brand-new factory gun and ship it to them. Then, after waiting for about half a year, you’ll get back a firearm modified to your specifications."
Jeff’s explanation opened up a whole new world for Feng Shan. He felt like he had just stepped into a completely new realm of firearms.
He had always been interested in guns and had seen his share of fine weaponry, but he knew next to nothing about the world of custom modifications.
He never imagined you could do this with guns—that a professional company could take an ordinary firearm and make it so unique.
"Besides TTI, what other gun modification companies are there?" Feng Shan asked enthusiastically.
Jeff was secretly pleased to see Feng Shan’s interest. "Deep River Customization, Wilson Combat, Night Hawk Customization, Turnbull Restoration, American Gunsmithing... these are all highly professional custom gunsmithing companies with excellent reputations. If you’re willing to spend the money, they can practically turn a gun into a fighter jet."
Just then, a waiter brought over two drinks and some small snacks.
The two men tacitly paused their conversation, their attention drawn to the newly arrived drinks and snacks.
Feng Shan was the first to reach for his drink, the Tundra Frost Flower. He brought it to his nose and sniffed gently. That faint, refreshing floral aroma once again filled his senses.
He then tilted his head back and took a small sip. As the liquor slid smoothly down his throat, the delicate floral notes instantly blossomed in his mouth. It was as if the entire magnificent floral landscape of the Tundra was captured in that single taste.
After he swallowed, a long, pleasant aftertaste remained, lingering on his palate and leaving him wanting more.
AHH!!
Jeff let out a sharp breath of alcoholic air. The waiter had brought him a Tundra Bonfire.
The drink was incredibly potent, as intense as a bonfire blazing across the Tundra.
Its base was a spirit aged for many years, infused with certain botanicals unique to the Tundra. The moment he drank it, he felt as if he were enveloped by a warm bonfire, a fiery heat spreading through his body.
"This liquor is so strong!"
"Gentlemen, just let me know if you need anything." The waiter, pleased with their reactions, collected his tray and departed.
Once Jeff had finished savoring the potent liquor, he returned to their previous topic.
"Each of these companies has its own specialty. For example, Deep River Customization has a unique expertise in accuracy tuning. Wilson Combat excels at enhancing a firearm’s reliability and durability. Night Hawk Customization focuses on combining aesthetics with ergonomic design. Turnbull Restoration can make old firearms look brand new, and American Gunsmithing can handle custom modifications for any special request a customer might have."
"They have official websites online. You can call them to get in touch."
"I don’t have..." Feng Shan started to say, but was cut off.
As if anticipating this, Jeff quickly pulled a flat box from his suitcase. With a warm smile, he said,
"I know you don’t have a computer. This is the newly released MacBook Pro from Apple."
It was the oldest trick in the book: soften a man up with gifts, and he’ll be hard-pressed to refuse you.
Faced with one gift after another, Feng Shan was getting genuinely flustered. If this kept up, even his firmest resolve would be broken.
’I’m deeply conflicted,’ Feng Shan thought. ’On one hand, I’m genuinely tempted by the gifts. On the other, I don’t want to compromise my principles for them.’
He sat there, caught in a dilemma, unsure of what to do.
Seeing Feng Shan’s conflicted expression,
Jeff was inwardly ecstatic. ’This is exactly the effect I was hoping for.’
’To prepare for this psychological offensive, he and the Elder Chief had strategized late into the night. They had analyzed everything from Feng Shan’s personality to the environment of the Crown Territory. Nearly every gift was designed to strike a nerve, to slowly chip away at his mental defenses.’
’But,’ Jeff knew, ’these first three items were just appetizers. The real main course has yet to come.’
’Once I bring out the truly big gifts, Feng Shan will have to seriously reconsider, no matter how firmly he clings to his principles.’
At this thought, the corners of Jeff’s mouth turned up in an irrepressible smile.
Feng Shan, however, knew exactly what this was: a blatant scheme by the Elder Chief. A "sugar-coated bullet," as they say.
’The old man has really gone to great lengths.’
Just then, Jeff made his next move. He bent down again and pulled a manila envelope from the suitcase.
"Feng, due to fluctuations in the livestock market, the payment you made exceeded the actual cost. So, I doubled the number of animals."
