Chapter 37 Strange Speech
Chapter 37 Strange Speech
Jiang Yanming nodded to the other person as a greeting.
He remembered that Witcher; the other was a Witcher who trained at the same time as him, but he became a full-fledged Witcher faster.
"Hey guys, look!" The demon hunter shouted excitedly to the other demon hunters when Jiang Yanming responded, "It's genius Jiang back!"
Jiang Yanming frowned slightly upon seeing this; he didn't want to attract attention.
At this moment, Guild Master Furen walked into the hall and called out to the Witchers who had all turned their heads, "Alright! Everyone, quiet down and listen to me."
The witchers quickly quieted down.
There is no doubt that Master Furen is highly respected among these Witchers, after all, most of them have received his help, and some of them relied on him to get through their most difficult times.
"Everyone should know why I've summoned you all here."
Guild Master Furen answered his own question, "It's to prevent the monsters from performing their revenge advancement ritual. Once the monsters complete this ritual, it will be a catastrophe for us demon hunters!"
"Obviously, everyone knows the importance of this matter, otherwise they wouldn't have rushed back from all over the world after receiving my call."
President Furen bowed slightly to the crowd. "Thank you for your trust. I can assure you that the Witchers will not perish, but will flourish even more!"
"Of course I trust President Furen, otherwise I wouldn't have come all this way back." One of the Witchers hesitated. "However, this monster attack is almost a decisive battle between us and the monsters. Regardless of the outcome, we Witchers are destined to exit the stage of history."
"We Witchers are the protectors of humanity. We should not perish, nor should we be forgotten!" Guild Master Furen said, somewhat agitated. "Without us, monsters would certainly be even more rampant, instead of barely surviving like this!"
The witchers looked at the excited Chairman Furen and exchanged bewildered glances.
They had all studied the books on witchers and knew the reason why witchers, monsters, and demons gradually declined: it was because magical energy had faded.
Even the creators of the Witchers, those mages who could cast mystical spells, mostly left this world before the magical energy faded, and the mages who remained have long since perished with time.
"Sorry, I got a little excited just now," President Furen said, regaining his composure. "Don't worry, everyone, we will definitely overcome this difficulty, and the monster's conspiracy will not succeed."
"Now everyone needs to get familiar with how to use firearms. You can't hunt monsters using the old methods alone."
"The monsters are different from before. Although their abilities have degenerated, they have lurked among ordinary people and learned many things, including how to use firearms."
President Furen added, "We also need to keep up with the times and learn how to use firearms to better deal with monsters. In addition, I have prepared dozens of bulletproof vests and helmets, as well as some medicine to treat injuries, which can increase everyone's chances of survival."
The witchers listened in silence.
"The monster's targets are Jiang and me; we are the only remaining official demon hunters of the Tiger Faction and the Owl Faction, respectively."
President Fu Lun pointed at Jiang Yanming and himself, "If the demons want to complete the revenge ascension ritual, they need to kill us, and then the ascendant must personally take some of our organs; otherwise, the ritual will fail."
"Jiang and I will stay inside the fortress. The fortress will be our most important line of defense against the monsters, or you could say our last line of defense."
"As long as we are inside the fortress, the monsters will not dare to blow it up, because that could damage my and Jiang's internal organs and cause the ritual to fail."
"As everyone knows, the number of monsters is at least ten times, maybe even a hundred times, that of us demon hunters!"
Frenton paused, then continued, "We are outnumbered, so we need everyone to kill as many monsters as possible in the forest to prepare for retreating to the fortress."
"We have set up many traps in the forest, and we carry deodorizing drugs when entering and leaving the forest. This will prevent the monsters from using their sense of smell. The traps will kill the monsters, and you will need to use firearms to kill them from a distance. Then, follow my orders and retreat to the fortress."
The witchers nodded in agreement.
The plan was simple, but it was also a last resort, because there were too few Witchers.
"I hope everyone will protect themselves as much as possible, because each and every one of you is incredibly important. You are my family and partners, the nemesis of monsters."
Finally, Chairman Furen bowed slightly to everyone and said, "I hope everyone will live to witness the great rise of the Witchers once again."
The demon hunters listened, and although they found some of what Chairman Furen said strange, they could not deny that they could feel the sincerity in his words.
"Alright, everyone can relax a bit more. We'll be on high alert starting tonight," Chairman Furen said with a smile.
"Understood!" The witchers nodded in agreement.
So most of the Witchers continued drinking, playing cards, and talking. After all, the final battle was destined to be fraught with danger, and they might die in it, so enjoying themselves was inevitable.
"Master," a demon hunter approached with a wine glass, "I'd like to toast you. If it weren't for your help, I'd probably be dead by the Four Nations Alliance long ago."
"You're still not careful enough." President Furen took the wine glass and drank it all in one gulp. "The Four Nations Alliance is dangerous. We Witchers are far from our peak and cannot compare with the cyborgs supported by the Four Nations Alliance."
"I never knew the outside world would turn out like this." The witcher picked up the empty wine glass, shook his head and sighed, "I trained hard for ten years and even took the Bear School Witcher Potion, but I'm no match for a cyborg who's only been modified for a few days."
"Don't worry, we Witchers will rise again, it won't always be like this." Guild Master Furen patted the Witcher on the shoulder. "I assure you."
"Hopefully," the witcher shrugged. "Provided I can survive this final battle against the monsters."
"I will do my best to keep you all alive," President Furen said solemnly.
"Guild Master, I believe in you." The witcher patted his chest. "Don't worry, I won't let you die before me."
"That's not a nice thing to say." President Furen chuckled and shook his head. "Alright, go relax a bit. You're starting to abstain from alcohol tonight."
"Understood." The witcher nodded solemnly, then returned to the long table with the empty wine glass.
"President, would you mind if I went for a few drinks too?" Carrot licked his lips.
"Go ahead." President Furen nodded with a smile, then said to Tira, "You go too, Jiang and I have some things to discuss."
Jiang Yanming remained silent upon hearing this.
Well, from Chairman Fu Lun's speech just now, he sensed something strange, and he felt that the chairman was hiding something.
He was still trying to figure out how to get information out of the other person, but the other person had something to talk to him about, which suited him perfectly.
